Live for Summer at Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe

· ·

A day at the water parks is a day well spent. My boys have grown to love water parks. They would much rather spend the day at a water park than most amusement parks. We love visiting North Carolina’s best water park, Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe in Greensboro with the boys every summer.

Last weekend we took the boys to Wet ‘n Wild for our first trip of the summer. We arrived about 30 minutes after opening and got through parking rather quickly. Standard parking is $10 per vehicle for the day or you can purchase a season parking pass.

We had to pick up our tickets from Will Call which had an unusually long line and we had to wait for over 30 minutes to get our tickets. It appeared there was some issue with the credit card processing or issuing of annual passes. Either way, we were very relived to finally get into the park. At the front gate security will check your bags for any non-compliant items. Reminder, No outside food or drink is permitted in Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe.

We headed to the cabana rental station to pick up our private cabana assignment. The cabana rental station is located at the outside pick-up window of T.B. Outfitters Gift Shop. Cabanas are available for all day rentals with prices starting at $69. Each cabana contains a few lounge chairs, a table and chairs, ceiling fan, refrigerator stocked with drinks to purchase and a lock box (lock available for additional purchase.) Cabanas are also serviced by waitstaff that take orders from the cabana menu and bring food directly to your cabana.

Since we have 4 kids that have varying interests and heights we typically split up. Joe takes the bigger kids that wants to do more thrill ride while I hung out with the younger kids in the kid area. My little kids love Happy Harbor and the Kiddie Wave Pool. The bigger kids love the Raging Rapids, Tropical Drop and Serpentine Slides. They always love to watch people ride the Edge but haven’t quite gotten up the nerve to ride it yet. (Tip: Before you get in line to ride a ride with little ones be sure to check the ride restrictions for height.)

This time instead of ordering food from our cabana (on our previous visits we ordered pizza) we decided to eat popcorn chicken and fries from Crispy’s Popcorn Chicken and Seafood. It was pretty good chicken and the kids ate every bite.

We also checked out some of the other great dining and drink options located around the park. I think next time we might have to check out the ICEE Mix It station Breakers hand-dipped ice cream or Captain Eli’s Food Court.

We planned on leaving about an hour before closing but the boys were having so much fun we stay right until the end of the day. We headed to the locker/changing area and were able to change into dry clothes before heading back home to Raleigh.

We had such a great day and I know the kids will be asking when we can go back to Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe.
