Audio Books for Busy Moms

I enjoy reading but I rarely have the time to sit down and read. When I do get the time to read my brain starts remembering all of the other things I need to be doing. It’s a struggle and up until last year I had just given up on reading until I discovered audio books. I checked out a few books on CD for my kids for a long road trip and realized this would be a great way for me to “read” more books.
Now, I don’t know too many people that use CDs anymore but I know most libraries offer books on CD and eAudiobooks. I haven’t always had success with finding current popular eAudiobooks available at my local library which is why I signed up for Audible.

WHERE I USE AUDIBLE
I listen to audiobooks while I’m folding laundry, doing dishes, cooking dinner, going for a walk, driving around running errands, waiting for Jude’s pianos lessons…. pretty much anywhere. Sometimes I only get to listen for 10 minutes but I love that I can “read” and do other productive things at the same time.
WHAT BOOKS DO I LOVE
I’m glad you asked. Here are a few of my favorites:

Bossypants

*You may notice I like memoirs, especially ones written by women.
Now you don’t have to use Audible to listen to these audio books but in my opinion it’s a much better deal. For example, the audiobook for Girl Wash Your Face is $17.56 or 1 Audible Credit. I’m saving $2.61 plus gaining all the additional features like the 2 Audible Original books and fitness program. (I’ve used the fitness programs and it’s great!)
So, I highly recommend checking out Audible
And above all try listening to audio books. I may be a busy mom but I can still “read” books while I get stuff done.
What are your favorite audio books?
I love audible! I find I need to be careful with what books I choose so my mind doesn’t drift. Fun listening is fine but biz books I need to sit down and highlight!
Audiobooks are totally how I consume books these days. I have listened to quite a few on your list. Looking forward to checking out a few more. Thanks for the great suggestions.
Everything by Brene Brown is just amazing. Those are great books to own so you can go back to them! I also like listening to podcasts while I’m folding laundry and doing dishes. I feel like I’m making good use of my time.
I have never listened to audiobooks before, but I will definitely have to try it out and check out these books.
I love this! I prefer a book in hand because I can easily tune things out when concentrating on something else. But, I also love reading. This is something to reconsider for in the near future. 🙂
I love Girl Wash Your Face and Bossy Pants so much. Tina Fey’s letter to her daughter at the end is everything. Now I want to reread it. Also- A moment for Audible!!! Thank goodness for that app.
