Superbook DVD Review
Jude has recently become obsessed with Superbook. I received 14 episodes on DVD to review and they have been a huge hit.
As a child growing up in the 80’s I watched several of the original Superbook episodes and I love that they have re-imagined Superbook using 3D animation so that children of this media-savvy generation can also enjoy the great stories. The original Superbook series has been translated into 43 languages and shared in over 106 countries introducing the children of the world to the Gospel. Superbook has been a powerful tool to share the Gospel story with children around the world. Superbook follows Chris, Joy, and Gizmo back to Bible times to relive some of the greatest moments in history.
I really love the new episodes and think they have done a marvelous job creating animation and storylines that will interest children today. I was a little concerned about how they would address some of the more controversial and violent Bible stories because really a lot of the Bible is pretty intense, but they have addressed hard-to-teach concepts with great sensitivity so that children will understand them and not become scared or overwhelmed.
Jude’s favorite episode is “A Giant Adventure” which is the story of David and Goliath. He said he liked how David killed Goliath with a rock and his slingshot and that Goliath was a giant and David was a little boy but God made David brave. I love that each episode opens the door for us to talk about important life issues and opportunities to teach our kids about God.
You can also join the Superbook DVD club which allows you to purchase a DVD and receive 2 extra DVDs of the same episode to share with friends.
