Even though I’ve been “blogging” for over 4 years I still feel like a newbie. I’ve never attended a blog conference and until this year I’d never connected in person with other bloggers at all.
One of the reasons I like blogging is because I’m shy. Not the cute shy girl twirling her hair in the corner but the awkward girl who looks a bit scary and intimidating. It’s true. Many of my friends have told me they thought I was a bitch when they first met me but after getting to know me they realized I was the exact the opposite. (I think what happens is this: I get nervous so I put on my “go-get’em, killer” face which just comes off as my “killer” face which in turn send everyone running for the door. Gotta find a new face.) Through blogging I can eliminate those awkward first impressions and become the outgoing person I always wanted to be.
This past week I’ve kept up with the tweets, blogs, and vlogs from BlogHer attendees. While on one hand I was jealous that I was unable to attend this year I was also relieved. Just the thought of being surrounded by hundreds of bloggers in one of the largest cities in the country gives me butterflies in my stomach.
Honestly I’ve come a long way from that little girl who was too terrified to ask a mall patron the time. But it still takes work for me to step out of my comfort zone. A lot of work. So the thought of attending a blog conference both excites me and terrifies me.
So here goes nothing. I’m planning to attend my first blog conference ever, Type-A Mom Conference in Asheville, NC. I think this will be a great fit for my first time because…
It’s in North Carolina, my home state, and Asheville is just my speed.
There probably aren’t going to be quite as many people attending.
Several people i know and sponsors I’ve worked with are already attending.
And finally, Joe and Jude will be going with me… my own personal cheer leading team.
Wish me luck and say a little prayer for me come the end of September.

You may notice things look a little different around here. Well, I drank sweet tea with my dinner last night and was awake until after 2am. (I don’t drink coffee, soda or really any caffeinated drink so a glass of sweet tea is powerful stuff in my body.) Well I decided I wanted to lighten…
1. No One Knows About It Outside of my regular followers, I get most of my blog traffic from Twitter. When I first started using twitter I only tweeted about my giveaways, which yielded fair results. But recently, I’ve been learning that although it may seem daunting, interacting with others on Twitter is much more…
