Disney’s Pop Century Resort Review

·

Disney’s Pop Century Resort is a favorite at Walt Disney World! This Value resort captures the magic of the 1950s to the 1990s and offers a budget-friendly option without sacrificing amenities. It’s conveniently located near Epcot and Hollywood Studios. It features three pools, a kiddie pool, an arcade, recreational activities, a playground, a food court, and a gift shop, all with fantastic photo opportunities!

POP Century Resort Rooms

The rooms at Pop Century underwent renovations in the summer of 2019 and now feature two queen beds instead of two full-sized beds. One of these queen beds is housed in a pull-down “Murphy” bed unit. Unlike Disney’s often uncomfortable pull-out couches, both beds come with standard queen mattresses, ensuring equal comfort.

When the Murphy bed is stowed away, it creates space for a small table and two chairs. Additionally, the carpeted floors have been replaced with laminate, making the rooms more allergy-friendly and easier to clean.

The Room Categories at Pop Century include:

  • Preferred Pool View: Views of Hippy Dippy pool and close to Classic Hall.
  • Preferred Room: This room has views of the courtyard and landscaping and is close to Classic Hall.
  • Standard Room: Views of the resort hotel or parking areas.
  • Standard Pool View: Views of the Bowling Pool and Computer Pool.

Disney’s Pop Century Pools

Pop Century Resort features three heated pools, each maintained at 82 degrees:

  1. Hippy Dippy Pool: The main pool, located near the 1960s buildings, is shaped like a flower and holds 235,000 gallons of water. It has four flower showers and a zero-entry kiddie pool with fountains. The adjacent Petals Pool Bar serves snacks and drinks (not allowed in the pool).
  2. Computer Pool: Situated near the 1990s buildings, this rectangular pool resembles a computer monitor with a spongy keyboard deck.
  3. Bowling Pool: Located in the 1950s area, this pool is shaped like a bowling pin, with the deck mimicking a bowling lane design.

All pools at Pop Century Resort are designed with your safety and comfort in mind. Ranging in depth from 3 to 4 feet 9 inches, they are perfect for swimmers and non-swimmers. While there are no slides or hot tubs, the Hippy Dippy Pool features fun water sprays. Amenities like showers, lockers, restrooms, and a laundromat are available at each pool, ensuring a convenient and enjoyable experience for all our guests.

Disney’s Pop Century Transportation

One of the main reasons guests enjoy staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort is the convenient access to the Skyliner. The Skyliner was introduced in 2019 to provide a new and exciting way to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Pop Century shares a Skyliner station with Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort offers dedicated bus transportation that is not shared with other resorts. The bus service is conveniently located outside Classic Hall, making it easy to reach the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. It’s important to note that Pop Century does not have direct bus service to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios unless the Skyliner is unavailable.

Disney’s Pop Century Dining

Everything Pop

Everything POP is Pop Century Resort’s shopping and dining option. It is open daily from 7 AM to 11 PM and offers American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The store also includes a grab-and-go section with bakery items and drinks.

Everything POP is a quick-service dining location that offers mobile orders and accepts some dining plans. You will find exclusive items like Tie-Dye Cheesecake and POP Goes Bananas Cupcake. Menus are available online to easily view options, prices, and allergy-friendly items.

Petals Pool Bar

The Petals Pool Bar features a groovy 60s design and is conveniently located behind Classic Hall, right next to the resort’s main pool. The menu offers various options, including alcoholic beverages, like a Strawberry Margarita. Additionally, there are non-alcoholic drinks, smoothies, and snacks perfect for enjoying poolside.

Pop Century Recreation and Activities

In addition to the pools, Pop Century Resort offers a variety of activities, including:

Playground: Disney’s Pop Century Resort features a small playground along the jogging trail on the edge of the 1970s section. While it may not be extensive, its central location makes it easily accessible from your room.

Nightly Campfire: Many resorts around Walt Disney World host a nightly campfire, including Pop Century! S’mores kits are available to purchase.

Movies Under the Stars: Disney resorts show Disney films in the evenings; the schedule and showtimes are available in the resort activity guide.

Fast Forward Arcade: The resort’s arcade is located in the main building, Classic Hall, and offers plenty of games.

Jogging Trail: Pop Century has a one-mile jogging trail that winds through each resort’s themed section.

Pop Century Scavenger Hunt: Explore the resort with the Pop Century Scavenger Hunt. Pick up the FREE scavenger hunt at the front desk, and once you complete it, turn it in for a fun prize!

Disney’s Pop Century Resort Review

Disney’s Pop Century Resort is a value resort ideal for families seeking an affordable way to enjoy the full Disney experience. Its spacious rooms, convenient amenities, and easy access to the Skyliner set it apart from other Disney resorts. Many families prefer this resort because of its transportation options and budget-friendly pricing.

One of the major selling points of Disney’s Pop Century Resort is its location. The Skyliner provides quick access to Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Disney resorts. However, be aware that wait times for the Skyliner can be long at the end of the night when many guests are returning to their resorts.

Dining at Disney’s Pop Century Resort is limited to quick-service options and a pool bar. Fortunately, the Skyliner also expands your dining choices to several nearby resorts. Overall, Pop Century is a fantastic option for families looking for easy park access.
