Is Universal Express Pass Worth the Price?

·

Nobody likes waiting in long lines. However, long queues are a necessary part of life, especially at theme parks.

Many theme parks realize that standing in line can ruin guests’ experience. To combat this, many amusement parks have implemented Skip-the-Line systems, which allow guests to bypass lines and experience the park more quickly. This allows guests to make the most of their time at the park while allowing for a leisurely experience.

Guests at Universal Studios can skip the regular line in favor of a shorter one with Universal Express Pass.

Universal Express Pass

What is Universal Express Pass?

The Express Pass is a paid option that allows guests to avoid standing in line as much as possible.

How does the Universal Express Pass work?

The lines for popular attractions can grow incredibly long. The Universal Express Pass allows guests to skip the standby line to access rides and attractions more quickly.

To access the Express line, riders must follow the signs to the attraction they want to ride. A Universal Team Member will scan your Express Pass, and a camera will verify your face.

How Much Does Universal Express Pass Cost?

Express Passes are an add-on to your park entrance ticket. There are a few factors that affect Express Pass prices.

  • What time of year are you visiting Universal?
  • Pre-purchasing Express Pass
  • Type of Express Pass
  • Number of Days/Parks

During periods of high demand, Express Passes are at their most expensive. The Express Pass range in price from $89 to $379 per day, in addition to your park entrance ticket.

Types of Express Pass

Universal offers several types of Express Pass.

Express Pass – Express allows guests to skip the standby line once per attraction. This is the lowest price pass, starting at $89.99 per adult per day for one park. Upgrade to two parks (Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure) starting at $99.99 per adult per day.

Express Pass Unlimted – Express Pass Unlimited allows guests to skip the standby line an unlimited amount of times. Prices start at $99.99 per adult per day for one park or $129.99 per adult per day for two parks.

Express Pass Plus – The Express Pass Plus is only valid for Volcano Bay. It allows guests to skip the standby line once per attraction. Prices start at $39.99 per adult per day. No multi-park options are available.

*Prices listed are the lowest possible price based on date and availability. Prices may vary depending on your dates of travel.

Do I Need an Express Pass?

You don’t need an Express Pass to enjoy your Universal vacation. However, it may be beneficial to have it if you are limited on time or you are visiting during a busy season.

Which Attractions Accept Universal Express Pass?

Express Pass is available at most major rides and shows except for Ollivander’s Wand Experience, and Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure.

How to Get a Complimentary Express Pass

Universal Express Pass Unlimited passes are included with stays at Universal’s Premier hotels. These hotels include Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, and Royal Pacific. The Express Pass Unlimited is good for each day of your stay, including check-in and check-out days.

Depending on the number of guests and time of year, you could save hundreds of dollars by staying in a Premier hotel.

Acquiring Express Pass

Universal Express Pass can be purchased online when you purchase your park ticket or add it later.

You can also buy an Express Pass at the park. However, this is the most expensive option, and you risk Express Passes selling out for the day.

Complimentary Express Pass Unlimited is available when you stay at a Universal Premier Hotel.

Is the Universal Express Pass Worth It?

This will depend upon when you travel and who you are traveling with. The Universal Express Pass gives guests the ability to enjoy shorter lines, which will save you a great deal of time.

Before purchasing Express Pass, do the math to determine if the added expense is worth it. For some people, it may be worth the convenience and time savings, but others may prefer to spend less and wait in line.
