NC Chinese Lantern Festival

The 5th annual NC Chinese Lantern Festival is currently on display at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, NC. Last week Joe and I visited and the all new display is phenomenal and a must-see during this holiday season.

The Chinese lanterns are created by hand exclusively for this event. This walk through exhibit features colorful lanterns showcasing the beauty and artistry of Chinese culture. On display over Symphony Lake is Feng Huang, the 26 feet tall and 165 feet long, emperor of birds symbolizing celestial bodies. In addition to a collection of beautiful lanterns are fun hands-on light displays that are fun for the whole family. Play with the Electronic Organ, a giant piano that lights up to the rhythm you create and the interactive light up swings. Ride on the friendly dinosaurs or take a prehistoric selfie.

You can also watch the Chinese Cultural Arts Performances like Chair & Jar Balancing, Hoop Diving and Water Meteor Bowl. The cultural performances take place on the stage several times throughout the evening. The venue also offers food and beverages for purchase on the Crescent Deck.
