Push Present: Yea or Nay?
Up until recently I’d never heard of a push present. I always assumed the baby was the prize for pushing. But apparently it’s a real thing.
What is a Push Present?
From what I understand the father gives the new mother a special gift to mark the special occasion of her giving birth. Push presents can be anything but is most typically some form of jewelry. Also, it doesn’t have to be the father that gives the present, it can be a friend, parent, other relative or a group of people. But ultimately the present is intended for the mother, whereas most baby shower presents are to be used for the baby.
7 Push Present Ideas
I don’t think I’ll be getting a push present this time around, other than a cute, cuddly baby, but I can dream right? Here are a few items I wouldn’t mind receiving as a push present and I’m sure other mother’s might agree.
An iPad – So I can keep up with all my interneting while recovering and nursing a sweet little babe.
Personalized Jewelry – I’d love a necklace with my sweet little boy’s name engraved on it. Something like this mother of pearl necklace from The Vintage Pearl.
Newborn Photo Session – I would love to have some professional photos of my newborn but I’d never think to schedule a session nor do we have the money to spend on such a luxury.
Cleaning Service – Who doesn’t want a clean house? Especially if you don’t have to clean it.
Meal Delivery Service – Same thought as the cleaning service, no cooking for a few days sounds lovely. It doesn’t have to be fancy, even a gift card to
Flowers – I’m not usually one that demands flowers but pretty flowers brighten up any room, even a hospital room.
Sushi – After 9 months of not eating sushi you can bet I’ll have a serious craving. I will most certainly be sending Joe to Sono Sushi to pick up dinner sometime.
