In our new home we transformed the formal living room into a play room for the kids and transformed the formal dining room into an office for Joe and I. I love both of these spaces but they are right beside each other separated only by a doorway. While I love for Jude to visit me in the office I am often concerned about his safety with all of the wires, servers, and various electronic items we have hooked up in the office. So we decided it would be good to separate the spaces with a safety gate.
I love that the Summer Infant Extra Wide Walk-Thru Gate because it fits larger doorways like ours but still allows you to have a walk-thru gate which makes it easy to maneuver. I figure with a toddler and new baby I don’t want to operate a safety gate that requires two hands to get through. The Extra Wide Walk-Thru Gate is easily adjustable to door openings of 28″ to 57.5″ wide. I comes with 5″ and 10″ extensions so you can make sure it fits just perfectly into your doorway.
I installed our safety gate and it was actually much simpler to assemble than I thought. The only part that was a little difficult was making sure the pressure mounts were tight enough. Luckily, they supply you with a special tool that makes it easier to tighten the gate with ease. So far it’s proven to be very useful in keeping Jude out of all of the computer equipment and wires (which was the initial purpose). He enjoys spending time in the play room and I like that I can keep an eye on him.

This past month has been crazy. We’ve welcomed Noah into our family and had to deal with some major breastfeeding issues, mostly his tongue-tie and latch-issues. Summer is here and that means lots of swimming. We use cloth diapers so when we go to the pool I don’t want to use a disposable swim diaper. The primary goal of the swim diaper is to keep the solid waste out of the pool. Nifty Nappy Snappy SwimzEaze diapers are not only great…
Growing up I was a pool rat. I spent everyday all summer at the pool. When I was old enough I became a lifeguard so I could continue my summer trend of being poolside. Today I don’t spend the same amount of time by the pool but I still relish in the sun, with sunscreen…
