We are a Nintendo family. My husband has owned almost every Nintendo gaming system since their inception. My sons love to play video games with their dad on the Nintendo Switch. Almost every weekend after they have completed their chores they get to play video games with Dada.
The Nintendo Switch is a great gaming system because the system is so versatile. It can be played at home or on the go so players can enjoy a full home console experience anytime, anywhere. At home the main unit sits in the Switch docking station which connects to the television. Remove the main unit from the docking station and it becomes a handheld gaming device that can be used anywhere. The detachable Joy-Con enables players numerous ways to play.
Great for travel but if you plan on heavy travel we’d recommend a good case and a second charger.

Recommended Games for the Nintendo Switch
Join Mario and his new pal Cappy on a massive, globe-trotting 3D adventure. Use amazing new abilities like the power to capture and control objects, animals, and enemies to collect Power Moons so you can power up the Odyssey airship and save Princess Peach from Bowser’s wedding plans.
Kids love to play this game. Playing in multiplayer as Mario’s autonomous hat, Cappy, is a great option for smaller children because the controls are easy enough for them to master but the gameplay is challenging enough that nobody gets bored. There is also a level where you play as a Tyrannosaurus with a mustache.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Step into a world of discovery, exploration, and adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a boundary-breaking new game in the acclaimed series. Travel across vast fields, through forests, and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning Open-Air Adventure. Now on the Nintendo Switch console, your journey is freer and more open than ever. Take your system anywhere, and adventure as Link any way you like.
This game offers so much to explore, even without the two DLC expansions. Breath of the Wild keeps all of the classic Zelda elements, but combines them with a seamlessly executed open-world concept for an experience that is both fresh and timeless. Also, Link has a magic iPad.

Rocket League combines soccer with driving in an unbelievable physics-based multiplayer-focused sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars! Choose from a variety of high-flying vehicles equipped with huge rocket boosters to score amazing aerial goals and pull off incredible, game-changing saves!
This is soccer with cars and usually without gravity. It’s a hoot. The concept is easy enough for kids, the gameplay is fast-paced, and lots of aspects of the in-game physics can be adjusted to keep the game very, very interesting.
In Axiom Verge, you play as Trace, a scientist who awakens in an alien world after a lab explosion. Trace works his way toward a voice in the beyond, he explores an expansive world with unique tools and abilities, loads of weapons, tons of health/power/attribute upgrades, nearly 70 unique creatures, gigantic screen-filling bosses, and unique game play glitches allowing you to break past the boundaries of normal game play.
In development, release date December 31, 2019. Available for pre-order now. Metroid is our all time favorite game series. We are looking forward to exploring some more caves in deep space and unwinding another sweet epistolary science fiction tale without forced narration. We’re expect lots more of the shooting stuff and non-frustrating first-person jumping that were hallmarks of the first 3 Metroid Prime games.
What a fun post. I am a huge Mario fan myself, so I was happy to see this review. Thank you for the info!
Thanks for the info!!
I am so out of the loop in the gaming world I did even know this existed. I’ll have to get my boys this.
We don’t have a Nintendo – I miss the Mario games! That one sounds like fun. These will make great Christmas gifts to kiddos who love video games.
I’m not really a gamer but I must admit that I love playing the switch! These games look fun! I would totally be into the Mario game =) This past week, we played 1-2 switch game… I’m not sure if you’ll like it but it was one of the best that I’ve played =). Thanks for your recs!
I feel incredibly old because I’ve never even heard of the Nintendo Switch, but it looks like so much fun! We’re a PlayStation family, but this gives us a lot to consider if we ever want to change it up.
Super Mario looks like so much fun! Maybe we’ll try this for Christmas.
