Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

My kids love bananas, but they also love to forget that we have them and I usually end up with several overripe bananas. We often peel and freeze our bananas to make them into smoothies later but occastionally I will make banana bread or muffins.

This past weekend I had 2 little helpers in the kitchen that loved assisting in making chocolate chip banana muffins. They only at about 1/4 of the chocolate chip bag!

Here’s the recipe we made together:

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Servings 12

  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large mashed bananas
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line muffin tin with muffin liners.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl mix mashed banana, egg, melted butter and milk.
  4. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture until well blended.
  5. Add chocolate chips
  6. Divide batter among muffin tin cups filling about 3/4 of the way.
  7. Make 28-20 minutes until tops are golden.
  8. Let muffins cool on a rack and enjoy.
