I wish Invisalign Teen was around when I was growing up. #ad

The year was 1993, I was 13 years old and just had my first orthodontist appointment where they informed me I needed braces. I was so excited.
My older brother had braces and like most younger siblings I thought everything he did was pretty awesome. Or so I thought,  then came the time to actually get my braces put on. YIKES!

Big metal bands around my back teeth, wire, gluey stuff and oh yeah, the head gear… all to correct 1 slightly crooked tooth up front.
Definitely not as cool as I thought.

I had braces for about 10 months and was pretty self conscious about them. Being a 13 year-old 7th grade girl my self esteem was already as fragile as an eggshell. Braces, glasses and a poor sense of fashion had me on the brink of becoming a total nerd. Fortunately I don’t have any (or many) braces pictures of me from that brief period in my life. My 90’s fashion was bad enough, we don’t need braces pictures to help prove that I was a total geek. What I wouldn’t have given to have the option of Invisalign Teen for braces.

Luckily my braces faze only lasted a few months and was relatively painless, unfortunately I can’t say the same for my sense of style.

Invisalign Teen is a great alternative for pre-teens or teens that need braces. Invisalign costs about the same as traditional braces but offers many advantages with the clear aligner. For instance, there are no metal brackets, wires, glue or head gear involved which means fewer visits to the doctor. Today’s teens have alternatives to traditional braces which I’m sure will help ease that sometimes awkward transition from childhood to adult. I’m not sure it can help cure any fashion faux pas but at least your teeth will look pretty.
