At this point in his life Jude is a little sponge absorbing information all the time. It amazes me how quickly he can learn something and recite it weeks later. However, there are a few things that challenge him like learning his colors. I’m not sure why he has a hard time remembering his colors, I think it might be all the different variations of one color that throw him. (We’ve even tested to see if he is colorblind, which he is not.)
Goosie Cards offered me the opportunity to review some of their personalized flash cards so I thought I would design some to help him learn his colors. While I was looking at the site he saw the pre-designed colors and shapes cards and proclaimed he wanted those cards. So I decided to order the pre-designed cards since I knew he would already like them, plus it saved me a little work!
The cards are very nice. They are thick laminated cards that display the image and title of your choosing. He knows has mastered the shapes and is still working on the colors. I think this will be a very effective and fun for him to learn his colors. The key to having flash cards be effective is repetition so I’m planning to work them into our daily routine along with some of Kristy’s great tips on teaching colors to kids.

Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life – a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat…
Every night either Joe or I read a book or two to Jude before bed. Our nightly stories are probably one of the highlights to my day. Jude gets to pick out the books we read and often times he picks the same books over and over. However, it’s always exciting when we get a…
It’s cold season and babies with boogers are fairly common. It seems that baby boogers are made out of rubber cement or some other strong gooey adhesive. A regular tissue just doesn’t cut it, you need something stronger. And sometimes stronger means pain for little noses. And if your little one is anything like mine…
Jude is at the age where he gets bored rather quickly, especially while riding in the car. We don’t have a DVD player in our car so he is limited to the toys we can take on the car. Most of the time his toys end up on the floor and I end up digging…
I have a major sweet tooth but with most candy comes a lot of unwanted additives, artificial flavors and colors. Yuck! This Halloween we are going to unjunk our candy by giving our UNREAL Candy. UNREAL candy has less sugar, more protein and more fiber than regular candy. UNREAL also boasts: No corn syrup No…
Jude loves bath time. He’s my little fish. So it’s always exciting when we get new bath toys. Boon sent us the Scrubble and Splat and we had to play with them right away. Since it was a gorgeous day I filled up a some buckets and we played outside. Within a few minutes we…
