Joe and I watch a lot of movies at home. Like most parents we don’t have a lot of time or money to go out on elaborate dates so we love checking out new movies, especially absurd and funny movies. Needless to say I was very excited to review “Extract”the newest film from writer-director, Mike Judge. I mean Mike Judge + Jason Bateman = Genius!
I hate spoilers so I’ll keep it fairly vague. “Extract” is what I would call a comedic drama, meaning that it’s funny and a bit emotional all at the same time. The situations are absurd but not completely implausible. The characters are real, people that could very well be us, our neighbors or co-workers, you can relate to these people. Everything isn’t perfect but it all wraps up in the end. (Which I really like.)
About Extract
The creator of OFFICE SPACE, writer-director Mike Judge (BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD), moves from cubicles to the assembly line with EXTRACT — his outrageous return to workplace comedy, featuring a hilarious ensemble cast of quirky characters. About to sell his successful flavor extract company, life is almost sweet for Joel (Jason Bateman) until a freak on-the-job accident happens. Add to that his bored wife (Kristen Wiig), his laid-back, stoner best friend (Ben Affleck), a sexy con artist (Mila Kunis) who blows into town with dollar signs in her bedroom eyes, and a dumb gigolo — and life as he knows it turns sour. Filled with laugh-out-loud one-liners and raunchy comedy, EXTRACT is 100% pure hilarity.

I’ve just started to venture into my maternity clothes and even though I was last pregnant only 2+ years ago I have found that I don’t really like a majority of my maternity clothes. It’s always nice to freshen up your wardrobe each year and as much as it pains me to spend money on…
Last week Jude and I ventured to Brier Creek Commons in Raleigh, NC to check out the new Elevation Burger. Elevation Burger uses quality ingredients to create food that is not only flavorful but nutritious as well. They use organic, grass-fed, free-range beef that they freshly grind to create their burgers. They also serve fresh…
Last year was the 1st year I didn’t go shopping on Black Friday. I had a 4 week old baby that was recovering from a 3 day stay in the hospital for RSV. Only a few things can come between me and my holiday shopping and my kids are certainly on the top of that…
Jude is like a little sponge. The rate at which he learns new things is remarkable. So I try to capitalize on his enthusiasm for learning by giving him learning toys, like the Leapfrog TouchMagic Learning Bus. The TouchMagic Learning Bus teaches preschool children everything from letters to what sounds different musical instruments make. Features…
When all 4 of my boys want to play on their tablets it can get rather loud, especially when we are all sitting together, like in the car. I’m constantly telling them to turn down the volume and they are arguing over who’s tablet is too loud. On any given day a house full of…
