Joe and I watch a lot of movies at home. Like most parents we don’t have a lot of time or money to go out on elaborate dates so we love checking out new movies, especially absurd and funny movies. Needless to say I was very excited to review “Extract”the newest film from writer-director, Mike Judge. I mean Mike Judge + Jason Bateman = Genius!
I hate spoilers so I’ll keep it fairly vague. “Extract” is what I would call a comedic drama, meaning that it’s funny and a bit emotional all at the same time. The situations are absurd but not completely implausible. The characters are real, people that could very well be us, our neighbors or co-workers, you can relate to these people. Everything isn’t perfect but it all wraps up in the end. (Which I really like.)
About Extract
The creator of OFFICE SPACE, writer-director Mike Judge (BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD), moves from cubicles to the assembly line with EXTRACT — his outrageous return to workplace comedy, featuring a hilarious ensemble cast of quirky characters. About to sell his successful flavor extract company, life is almost sweet for Joel (Jason Bateman) until a freak on-the-job accident happens. Add to that his bored wife (Kristen Wiig), his laid-back, stoner best friend (Ben Affleck), a sexy con artist (Mila Kunis) who blows into town with dollar signs in her bedroom eyes, and a dumb gigolo — and life as he knows it turns sour. Filled with laugh-out-loud one-liners and raunchy comedy, EXTRACT is 100% pure hilarity.

I’ve long been a supporter of the green lifestyle, although I don’t always have the finances to keep up with my convictions. I do believe it is our responsibility as human beings to take care of the world which has been entrusted to us. I want my children’s children to be able to enjoy all…
Back in 2003 I first heard John Mark McMillan’s album Hope Anthology Volume One and was attracted to the raw lyrics of songs like “Hey Won’t You Come Around” and “Ominous”. Then in 2007 he released, Songs Inside the Sounds of Breaking Down another great album with some of my favorite songs like “Make You…
We all know that on Valentine’s Day you give chocolates and flowers. So, how awesome would it be to combine the two? Well, Chocobouquet has done just that. They make beautiful arrangements using chocolates. Flowers are pretty and boxes of chocolates are yummy but now you can enjoy them both at the same time….
As a young professional my husband wants to wear clothes that are suitable for work but also stylish and reflective of his personality. So it was nice to find 191 Unlimited and their selection of fashionable shirts for men and boys. Joe picked out the Mausoleum shirt which has dark brown tone stripes with beautifully…
Today is the first day of spring but it’s rather cold and rainy here in North Carolina. In fact, I’m still feeling a bit under the weather as I recover from a virus. Scotties Tissues have been a huge blessing during these past winter months as our family has fought off several nasty colds and…
I received free LeapFrog products to host the LeapFrog-sponsored MommyParty. The opinions expressed here are my own. I had the privilege of hosting a LeapReader party at Jude’s school. I shared some of the cool new LeapFrog products with 15 Kindergarteners and we had a blast. LeapFrog sent me their new LeapReader, a complete learn-to-read-and-write-solution,…
