What is Child Swap?
Child Swap at Universal allows one adult to wait with any non-riders while everyone else enjoys a ride. When the first adult exits the ride, they swap places and remain with the non-riders, while the second adult rides the attraction without waiting in line.
How to Use Child Swap
To use Child Swap, inform the attendant at the ride’s entrance that you wish to use Child Swap. It is important to inquire before entering because each attraction conducts Child Swap differently. Some attractions have a separate waiting room, while others have designated waiting spots. You may even have to enter a separate line depending on how crowded the parks are when you arrive.
Here is an example: Mom, Dad, and big sister want to go on a ride, but the little brother is not tall enough. Everyone enters the queue together and proceeds to the loading area. Then, Mom and big sister ride first while Dad and little brother wait in the designated Child Swap area. When Mom and the big sister get off the ride, Mom switches with Dad and waits in the Child Swap room with the little brother. Dad then gets his turn to ride without re-entering the queue.
Tips for Using Child Swap
- Anyone in your party can accompany the adult who waited the first time as long as they ride with the second group. This is an excellent opportunity for your group members to take a second trip with little wait time.
- While sitting in the designated rider exchange room is preferable, Team Members recognize that certain children may have trouble waiting in an enclosed space. Longer or noisier attractions may be particularly problematic. If you need a little extra space, speak with a nearby attendant. Usually, it is acceptable to exit and wait outside. When it is time for you to ride, return to the Express Lane entrance with your child swap pass.
