Coco DVD Review
I previously wrote a review on how much we love the newest Disney Pixar film, Coco. Since writing that post I have watched the move twice and I still have such fond thoughts about this movie. Coco is probably my favorite film from 2017. Granted, I don’t see a ton of movies but out of all the movies I saw last year, Coco is my favorite. So, it’s no surprise that we watched Coco again this weekend for our family movie night.
ABOUT COCO
Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Héctor, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
On February 27th, Coco will be released on 4K Ultra HD, DVD, and Blu-ray. I recommend buying the Blu-ray/DVD because everyone should own this amazing movie. In addition to the feature movie, there are many amazing bonus features you don’t want to miss.
- Deleted Scenes with Director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina
- Filmmaker Commentary
- The Music of “Coco”
- Paths to Pixar: “Coco”
- Welcome to the Fiesta
- How to Draw a Skeleton
- A Thousand Pictures a Day
- Mi Familia
- Land of Our Ancestors
- Fashion Through the Ages
- The Real Guitar
- Dante
- How to Make Papel Picado
- Un Poco “Coco”
- “Coco Trailers”
Our favorite of the special features was How to Draw a Skeleton. The boys loved learning how to draw a skeleton easily from Pixar artist Daniel Arriaga. I loved watching The Music of “Coco” and Fashion Through the Ages, both short documentaries that show how much thought and artistry went into creating such a beautiful and vibrant film.
