Every night before bed I read a couple of books to Jude. He gets to pick out the books and we snuggle in the chair or on the floor to read. It’s a great way to wind down after a busy day and to be honest I really love the cuddles! It’s also a great way to teach and encourage Jude to enjoy reading.
We are always looking for new books to read. I particularly love to introduce him to my favorite books. One of my all time favorite books is Corduroy. I am so happy that have finally been able to share Corduroy with my son. Now I hope to pass it along to my family and friends through the KinderCare Read. Share. Give Book Sharing Program. KinderCare understand the importance of reading to children. They are encouraging families to continue reading this summer and helping to place books in the hands of children in need through the Read. Share. Give Book Sharing Program.
Did you know that as a nation…
Two-thirds of 4th graders are below reading proficiency and 83% of low-income 4th graders are below proficient (National Assessment of Educational Progress)
Some 42 percent of American children (31MM) lack the income to cover basic needs including child care and access to books (National Assessment of Educational Progress)
In some of the lowest-income neighborhoods in the country there is only one book available for every 300 children. (University of Nevada Study)
44 million adults in the U.S. can’t read well enough to read a simple story to a child. (National Adult Literacy Survey)

Three kids and 1 due any day now means we will be spending a low-key New Year’s Eve at home. We’ll probably make some pizza and popcorn and watch some of our favorite shows on Netflix. The kids are currently loving the new Netflix Original Series, All Hail King Julien. All Hail King Julien is…
I’ll admit it, I’m not a cat person. Not by choice though. I’m allergic to cat dander, it’s a genetic curse I guess you could say. So, we’ll probably never adopt a cat. However, I do think cats are pretty rad. Earlier this month, Scotties Facial Tissues partnered with animal rescue organizations up and down…
Last week we had summer camp at home, Camp Lieb. I incorporated a lot of Netflix Streaming shows into our daily themes. Here’s a list of our theme Netflix shows: Friendship DayDaniel Tiger: Friend Help Each OtherThe Many Adventures of Winnie the PoohTinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast Space DayBill Nye the Science Guy:…
Did you know, March 16 is Incredible Kid Day? I have 4 Incredible Kids that love to help me create delicious food in the kitchen. My boys love to create new recipes with me in the kitchen. I find they are more willing to try new foods and flavors when they take part in making…
Discussing sexual things is always a little funny and awkward no matter who it’s with, but what’s awesome is discussing sexual things with your soon-to-be-grandmother-in-law. That’s what makes this story so great. Joe and I were engaged on the weekend of Easter in 2007 so it was with great excitement that we were able to…
Joe is a smart shopper and is always looking for the best deal, which is one of the many reasons I love him. Whenever we go shopping he always pulls out his smartphone. He’s either calculating price per unit, looking of more information about the product or even comparing prices at other stores. He uses…
