Celtic Woman Review + Giveaway
I had the privilege of not only reviewing the newest Celtic Woman CD, Songs from the Heart but I was able to see them live! I wasn’t allowed to take a camera to the show so any images below are from the website.
The CD
Honestly, I wasn’t very familiar with Celtic Woman before this review however after listening to the CD I can see why so many people love their music. It’s awe inspiring and beautiful. My favorite song from the album has to be Amazing Grace, I’m a sucker for the bag pipes.
The Show
I took my mother with me to the show. She’d seen the PBS special and I thought she would appreciate the Celtic style music. We had great seats and the show was spectacular, I didn’t realize how much choreography would be involved. All of the women have beautiful voices and the songs varied from sweet inspirational love songs to loud invigorating dance tunes. The crowd was wonderful and I never realized how many devoted followers there are of Celtic Woman. I overheard the people behind us saying they were traveling to another state to see another show. The guys next to us were singing along to every song. The older woman in front of me was shouting and jumping up and down for an encore. I loved watching the two drum/percussionists carry the night away and my mom was convinced the fiddle player, Mairead was taking espresso shots between songs. It was truly an amazing experience and a lot of fun. I’m so glad I was able to attend the live show.
About Celtic Woman
Celtic Woman are an all-female vocal ensemble performing various traditional and contemporary Celtic-based songs. Celtic Woman also put on a live stage show that shares much in common with similarly minded shows such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. A live performance by Celtic Woman was filmed for broadcast on PBS in 2004 and debuted a year later with an accompanying CD and DVD.
