How old is your blog or long have you been blogging?
Tales of an (Almost) Mommy is about 4-months-old. She was born on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 1:42 pm. She is my first blog and I love all the witty, clever and unabashedly honest things she says.
What made you choose the name of your blog?
I am a 30-something suffering from the ‘baby jones.’ Much like an addict, it’s this uncontrollable urge to want to have a baby. In college, the ‘baby jones’ crept in like clockwork twice a year. It was easy to push aside. Now, I’m jonesing for a baby fix constantly; it shows no signs of slowing. This blog chronicles my quest to (possibly) become a mommy. As such, I needed a name that would let people know, that at this point, my blog is more about the wonders and worries I have about getting pregnant and less about what life is like in the Mommyhood.
Why do you blog and what do you love about blogging?
My reason is quite simple; I love to write. It helps me process my thoughts and is a creative outlet that stimulates my brain. That sounds so corny but it’s true. Some people use retail therapy to deal with stuff. Other people exercise like crazy. I write. It helps me connect with myself and to keep friends and family members (many of whom live far, far away) in touch with where I’m at in my life.
I’d also like to add that there is something so comforting about people reading, and perhaps, responding to my words. It makes me feel like I am not alone. I am so grateful that there is such a large community of women who support one another in their writing endeavors. Women encouraging women – there is nothing better!
