How to Set Up Netflix Parental Controls

Netflix is one of the top streaming services in the world and has over 5,000 titles in their U.S catalogue. They offer great child-friendly movies and shows but not everything on Netflix is for kids. There is a lot of content that isn’t age appropriate, however Netflix has parental controls. Netflix’s parental controls allow parents to create Kid Profiles with maturity settings, block specific content, add a PIN to each profile and inspect Viewing Activity.

How to Setting Up or Edit A Kid Profile

Step 1: Sign in to your Netflix account

Step 2: To Add a New Kid Profile Select Add Profile or To Edit an Existing Profile Select Manage Profiles

Step 3: For a New Profile add the Child’s Name and Click the Box Kid for Existing Profile Select the Kid’s Profile.

Step 4: Select the child’s Profile and under Maturity Settings select EDIT

Step 5: Enter Your Password

Step 6: Select a Maturity Rating for Child and Save

  • TV-Y: Appropriate for All Children.
  • TV-Y7: Suitable for Ages 7 and Up.
  • TV-G/G: Suitable for General Audiences.
  • TV-PG/PG: Parental Guidance Suggested.
  • PG-13: Parents Strongly Cautioned. May be Inappropriate for Ages Under 13.
  • TV-14: Parents Strongly Cautioned. May not be Suitable for Ages Under 14.
  • R: Restricted. May be Inappropriate for Ages Under 17.
  • TV-MA: For Mature Audiences.
  • NC-17: Inappropriate for Ages 17 and Under.

How to Block Specific Content

At the Bottom of the Viewing Restrictions you can Block Specific Titles for A Profile.

  • Enter the Title of a Specific Movie or Show you want to block. Save.

How to Create A PIN for A Profile

Perhaps you want to set a PIN to prevent younger audiences from accessing a profile with less restrictive settings. Netflix allows you to create a unique PIN for each profile if desired.

Step 1: Login to your Netflix Account and Select your Profile

Step 2: Click your profile icon in the top right corner and select Account from the drop down menu.

Step 3: In the Profile & Parental Controls Section choose the Profile you want to have a PIN.

Step 4: Click Change Profile Lock

Step 5: Enter Your Password and Select Require a PIN to Access Profile. Then Create your 4-Digit Pin. Save.

How to Inspect Viewing Activity

Step 1: Login to your Netflix Account and Select your Profile

Step 2: Click your profile icon in the top right corner and select Account from the drop down menu.

Step 3: Click View n the Viewing Activity Section.
