I’m pretty sure my husband, Joe is addicted to coffee. But not just any coffee will do, he has a refined coffee palate and will only drink freshly roasted organic coffee. Honestly, before I met him I didn’t even know I to make a pot of coffee and now I’m married to a former barista who is obsessed with coffee. So when it comes to reviewing coffee I don’t even try to give my opinion because I am completely ignorant when it comes to all things coffee.
Here are Joe’s expert thoughts:
Joe Van Gogh’s Organic Papua New Guinea Purosa is the best smelling package we’ve received all year. The beans were roasted the day before we got them, so they were really fresh. I wanted to make something special with this coffee, so I had it ground coarse and cold-brewed it overnight with a little bit of chicory, resulting in a smooth New Orleans style iced coffee. It was quite delicious, and as it turned out, very popular with the guys at work. If I had it to do over again, I might not share next time around.

Joe Van Gogh is a certified organic coffee roaster located in North Carolina. They offer a variety of certified Fair Trade and Shade Grown coffees. Owner, Robbie Roberts has been in the coffee industry since 1991. Joe Van Gogh roasts their coffee in small batches to order, because they believe fresh coffee is the best coffee.
Joe Van Gogh is currently working with Grounds for Health a non-profit organization that assists women in coffee growing countries to receive life saving cervical cancer screenings. Through the Grounds for Health coffee auction where green coffee brokers and farmers donate a variety of high quality coffee beans. Roasters bid on the coffees and 100% of the proceeds go towards Grounds for Health programming. That will help buy supplies for thousands of women In addition, they will donate 50 cents for every bag of those two coffees sold. That 50 cents will allow for two women to be screened!
