5 Tips to Make Dish Washing Easier

I don’t enjoy doing dishes but I really hate when I find that my dishes didn’t get cleaned by the dishwasher. We have a very old dishwasher which means I often find dishes that didn’t get properly cleaned. But I’ve learned a few tricks that help even the oldest dishwasher get dishes clean with little effort.
Here are a few of my pro-dishwashing tips to prevent the need to re-wash dishes that have been through the dishwasher.
1. Scrape large food pieces off dishes before loading. Even the best dishwasher and detergent can’t get rid of half a hamburger.
2. Make sure forks and spoons don’t nest. Place some with handles up and other with the handle down to prevent stacking.
3. Load plates and bowls so the dirty side faces the water spray.
4. Place baking sheets and large pans along the side or back but never in front by the door – this prevents the detergent from reaching the dishes.
5. Don’t use too much detergent. More detergent won’t clean your dishes any better but will leave soap residue on your dishes.
Finish Quantum Power & Free detergent is perfectly portioned so you don’t have to worry about adding too much or too little detergent to your dishwasher.
Bonus Tip: Sort silverware as you load to make unloading quicker.
I use Finish Quantum dishwasher detergent to get my dishes sparkling clean. If you combine these helpful tips with a great detergent like Finish you don’t have to worry about re-washing your dishes… ever.
*Please supervise children when they are handling any Finish product.
Walmart has a great Rollback on Finish detergent until October that can be paired with a coupon for amazing savings.

Those are all great tips. I am going to have my kids read this, too 😉
This is exactly how I load my dishwasher. I will have to share with my husband as he thinks I am to picky. I have tried to explain to him this is why the dishes are clean when washed by me and not so much by him.
My dishwasher is my teen so I will be sure to share some of these tips with her!
I love finish detergent for my dishes! Thanks for these tips!
another way is to get your kids to help that would make dish washing a lot easier:)
Great tips – I don’t have a dishwasher. Every time I go to my mom’s she is always rearranging how I load the machine. These tips are very helpful!
I use this same dish washing soap too, thankfully it still cleans my dishes even though I over fill it.
Finish is the only detergent that actually gets my dishes clean in the dishwasher!
I dislike doing the dishes. I am going to save your post and show it to my children to help them do better at the dishwashing chore.
Great tips, especially about cleaning off the plates before putting them in the dishwasher.
Never thought about not making sure the forks and spoons don’t stick together, but it makes sense when you think about it. Great tips!
I wish I could convince my kids about #1… there’s a whole potluck floating around my dishwasher 1/2 the time!
Great tips! I do all of these – except my husband thinks you shouldn’t sort them (to avoid them nesting). However that doesn’t mean I don’t try to make my life easier by sorting them anyway. lol
Love the cleaning power of Finish for sure! What a great product it is!
Sharing with my 11 year old.
Yep, my kiddos do the dishes here too, great tips to pass on!
I definitely need to try this! My husband loads the dishes at our house 🙂 he says I can’t do it right! lol!
I use Finish Dry and it really gets my glasses sparkling!
Very good tips. Scraping food off is so helpful.
Wonderful tips. I take very good care of my dishwasher and love to use it…
I’m showing my husband this post 😛
