Yup. It's a slippery slope. I get pretty ornery when I hear comments regarding the fact that c-secions aren't a 'true' or 'real' birth experience. I had two- the first was due to pre eclampsia, the second was because I was having twins and had already had one.

If you follow that train of thought, are in vitro conceptions not real conceptions because they take place medically?

I know someone who put her life and he baby's life into jeopardy because she was so adamant against a c-section- the baby was breech and she waited until the last hours to go to the hospital. becaue she kept hoping that he would flip. He never did, and she now has issues over the whole thing.

Why do moms go out of their way to make others feel insecure over the birth experience? Maybe you don't realize you're doing it- but you are.

Oh, dear. You've bumped up against a big ol' mommy war without meaning to, haven't you? LOL.

Here's the thing: a certain faction of women has decided that to give birth via cesarean is a sin. Another faction of women prefers the cesarean, if they can find a quack who will do it for no good medical reason. And then the rest of us in the middle are just like you. We think you ought to do things in the least complicated way. That usually means giving birth vaginally.

I've had three vaginal deliveries and one c-section. I am here to tell you that I have, indeed, given birth to 4 human beings. I'm not less mom because I had a cesarean.

But I know you know that, so I didn't comment on that last post. I didn't think you meant that a c-section wasn't really "birth". Gotta be careful when you address these topics. There are trolls under the bridges, just waiting for you to say the wrong passwords. :0)

I don't think anyone "misunderstood" what you said in your original post on c-sections. You said:

"In my mind they weren't showing birth, they were showing surgery. (To me birth means labor and delivery. But I guess technically it just means removing a baby from the womb.)"

So, in YOUR mind, meaning your opinion, a woman who has a c-section did not give birth. I just want you to admit that you said this. No one was mincing your words - you made it pretty clear how you feel (or felt).

I've never had a c-section so this isn't personal for me. I am just so sick of women judging other women for the choices they make (or HAVE to make for the safety of their unborn child). Women should support each other - not make everything feel like a freaking competition!

"but I think everyone should realize they have control over their body and that childbirth is a natural part of being a female."

but yet women like you still continue to judge others for the choices they make when taking control of their body.

I personally think a home birth is a crazy idea only because during my labor I had to have an emergency c-section because the cord was wrapped around her neck. Had I been home this wouldn't have been possible and I may not be blessed with my a beautiful healthy little girl.

Labor isn't predictable and we should never judge anyone when they make decisions on how they want to deliver their baby. I wish you the best with your home delivery and I pray that it goes exactly how you imagine it will go while you are working out on your elliptical judging others.
